Cannabis Consumption Lounges Poised to Return to West Hollywood
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – The city of West Hollywood is welcoming back cannabis consumption lounges, which were shut down due to the pandemic shortly after the first lounge opened in early 2020.
According to LA Eater, these consumption cafes allow customers to consume cannabis in a public, restaurant-life setting. They would feature everything from bongs and vaporizer pens to cannabis beverages and even a “flower host” to roll joints at the tableside.
The city of West Hollywood had long-term plans for handling cannabis consumption cafes. Even before adult use became legal in California in 2017, the city launched a permit process to open a total of 10 dispensaries and 16 consumption lounges.
Original Cannabis Café, also known as Lowell Café, opened up in late 2019 to high demand, with long lines screeching down La Brea Avenue. Unfortunately, the success was short lived as the COVID-19 pandemic put the future of cannabis consumption lounges on hold.
Now, after nearly two years of waiting, West Hollywood is preparing to open a crop of exciting new cannabis consumption lounges. There are a number of consumption lounges slated to open in the coming months. Some of which are funded by famous cannabis advocates like Woody Harrelson and Bill Maher.
No official opening dates have been set as of this writing.
