IN House Bill Decriminalizing Marijuana Possession Under Discussion

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – House Bill 1297 is set to be discussed at the Indiana Statehouse this Wednesday, February 15.

According to FOX59 NEWS, this bill aims to decriminalize marijuana possession of  two ounces or less.

This decriminalization bill, was authored by Rep. Heath VanNatter (R-District 38) and co-authored by Rep. Ryan Hatfield (D-District 77), Rep. Jim Lucas (R-District 69), and Rep. Becky Cash (R-District 25).

If passed it will go into effect on July 1, 2023.

At the end of 2022, Republican legislators said they would be discussing marijuana legislation in 2023. In addition to this bill, there is potential they will discuss regulations on delta-8 this year.
