Ireland Introducing Bill to Hopefully Begin Legal Recreational Marijuana
IRELAND – People Before Profit MP (or Teachta Dála, TD) Gino Kenny introduced a bill to The Irish Parliament (or Oireachtas) with a goal of beginning the first steps of legalizing recreational cannabis.
According to Forbes, if passed this bill will modify the current Misuse of Drug Act which was approved in 1977. The new bill will allow Ireland citizens ages 18 and up to legally possess up to 7 grams of cannabis or 2.5 grams of cannabis resin.
However, the bill does not discuss selling cannabis products legally in the country or allowing citizens to grow cannabis plants for personal use. That means citizens would still only be able to purchase cannabis illegally.
