KY Prepares for Jan 1. Legalization of Medicinal Marijuana
Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, legal medicinal marijuana will begin in Kentucky for select people that meet the current requirements.
According to Courier Journal, outside of any last minute litigation, court rules, or legislation the executive order will go into effect on Jan. 1.
In order for Kentucky citizens to legally possess and use medicinal marijuana they must be diagnosed with one of the 21 conditions listed in the order. They must also have a written certification from their physician that they can possess and use marijuana.
Lastly, marijuana sales remain illegal in Kentucky so it must be purchased in a state where medicinal marijuana sales are legal.
