Minnesota Begins Search for First-ever Director of Cannabis Management

MINNESOTA – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz recently announced the search for its inaugural executive director to lead the newly established Office of Cannabis Management, the primary regulatory body overseeing the hemp and legal marijuana markets.

According to MPR News, prospective candidates for this position must submit their applications by July 31.

The job posting highlights that the director “will have responsibility for building a new state agency from the ground up and play a key leadership role in establishing and regulating an emerging new cannabis market in Minnesota.”

Additionally, the director’s responsibilities will encompass guiding and overseeing endeavors related to compliance, licensure, social equity, and intergovernmental relations.

Gov. Walz is expected to make a decision on the appointment sometime in the early fall.
