Mississippi plans for medicinal marijuana arrival at dispensaries in early 2023

CANTON, MS – Growers are finally beginning to harvest the first of Mississippi’s medicinal marijuana plants and hope the products will be available in dispensaries by early 2023.

According to WAPT, the Mississippi State Department of Health has been in the process of awarding licenses in order to move medicinal marijuana forward in the state. They have issued provisional licenses to 138 dispensaries and approved  117 practitioners to issue prescriptions. Additionally, they approved 406 patients for the program.

One of the approved cultivators, Southern Sky Brands, has begun harvesting their first plants. All products must be shipped to a state-approved laboratory for testing before it can be released to the market.
