Sales Of Marijuana Set Monthly Records In 6 States During August

Sales of marijuana were sizzling over the summer with records set in at least six states during the month of August, reports Marijuana Moment.

The states were Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri and New York, where retail sales of adult-use marijuana topped their monthly all-time highs.

Connecticut’s Department of Health and Human Services reported a combined total of $25.6 million for medical and adult-use sales during August.   That includes $17.9 million in adult-use products, beating the previous record of $17.2 million sold in December.  Medical marijuana sales in the state amounted to $7.6 million.

In Maine, the state’s Office of Cannabis Policy reported that sales of recreational marijuana  hit $23.95 million in August, higher than the previous record of $22.91 million set in July.  Sales of all forms of the product, including “usable cannabis,” concentrates and infused products, increased from July to August.

Total legal sales of marijuana in Maryland reached a record $100.62 million in August.  The Maryland Cannabis Administration said that includes adult-use purchases of $73 million and medical sales of about $27 million.

The total retail sales of legal cannabis in Michigan reached $294.2 million last month, along with $1.26 million in medical products.  The state’s Cannabis Regulatory Agency said the August figures set a record for the state, $6.6 million more than the previous monthly record from March.  Michigan also broke a monthly sales record for most adult-use flower sold at 100,894 pounds in August, while the average price for adult-use flower remained near an all-time low of $80.14 per ounce.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reported that the state had $126.15 million in total sales in August, including record adult-use purchases of $110 million.

New York’s state-licensed retailers posted a record $97.8 million in sales for August, surpassing the previous mark of $74.1 million established in June.   Sales in New York’s regulated market have continued to climb since a crackdown on unlicensed retailers across the state.
