WI Residents Paid $36.1 Million in Taxes for Marijuana Sales to IL
MADISON, WI – Residents of Wisconsin spent well over $35.1 million in marijuana sale taxes to their neighboring state of Illinois.
CBS57 reports that not only does marijuana remain illegal in Wisconsin but the state has not even decriminalized marijuana yet.
Marijuana sales to Wisconsin residents constitutes roughly 7.8% of Illinois’ total marijuana sales.
While 64% of Wisconsin voters are in favor of legalizing marijuana the state’s politicians remain very divided on the issue. Some politicians in favor of legalizing marijuana have stated they feel a bill for medicinal marijuana isn’t even closed to happening anytime soon.
