How To Make Edibles with Cannabutter

As edibles are becoming more and more popular, one of the most common questions asked by cannabis enthusiasts is how to make homemade edibles with cannabutter.

Cannabutter, as it’s better known, is butter that has been infused with cannabis. As most cannabis lovers would tell you, it’s simple to produce and is the foundation of many cannabis-friendly treats. In this article, we will show you how to make homemade cannabis edibles with cannabutter.

Cannabis Pasta

weed pastaIf you enjoy Italian cuisine, making cannabis butter for weed pasta is one of the finest ways to employ it. First, however, there are a few essential things you should know before you begin.

First, keep in mind that infused butter should be kept away from high heat. It is not recommended to cook with it at over 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Second, when making cannabis butter or any other edible for that matter, it is crucial to decarboxylate your herb first. This process heats the herb’s trichomes and THC-A crystals quickly, converting them into psychoactive THC.

Decarboxylation will take place when you put your herb in the oven, so make sure it is finely ground up before doing so! If this step isn’t done correctly, then you won’t get high, and your recipe could very well be ruined. For easy decabing of your weed, you can employ the LEVO II.

After decarboxylation, infusing your cannabutter is by far the easiest part of the whole process. Use the LEVO II to complete this process quick, easy and mess-free!

Double Dutch Coffee

Did you know you can use cannabis butter with the dutch method? The downside is that it takes additional time and work, but it’s worth it if you don’t want to break a sweat or dirty up extra dishes.

To make cannabutter using the Dutch Method, add your ground cannabis flower to a mason jar and put it in the refrigerator for at least 12 hours. This will allow all THC-A crystals to break down into psychoactive THC, making your infusion stronger.

After 12 hours have passed, remove your jar from the fridge and use a cheesecloth to strain out any plant matter that was left behind. Gradually pour water over it until you get a smooth mixture inside of your container. Then place this container on a burner set on medium heat until it boils.

Once your solution is boiling, reduce the heat slightly to simmer for another half hour or longer if desired. As long as you stir occasionally, you can expect to end up with an incredibly potent cannabutter. However, you can always try this method out for yourself by experimenting with the time it takes to simmer.

The last step is making your infused edible! Get creative and see what’s possible. If you want to start small, adding your cannabutter to coffee is one of the best ways to begin- be cautious because it does contain caffeine as well!

Regardless of what you decide to make, if you follow these steps exactly, then there shouldn’t be any problems along your journey. Ensure that all of your equipment is clean before beginning, and keep in mind that infused butter should never reach over 250 degrees Fahrenheit when cooking or baking!

Pot Pie

Pot Pie

The next time you’re having people over for dinner, impress them all by making your own medicated meal, like this Marijuana Chicken Pot Pie! The best part is that it’s effortless to do, and you don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen or clean up a mess afterward. Instead, you’ll be impressed with how well this method works and how well it produces such fantastic results!

To start, use one stick of unsalted butter for every 2 ounces of ground herb. For example, if using 12 grams of cannabis flower, you would use two sticks of butter and so forth. It’s essential to grind up your plant material as finely as possible before beginning this process- more surface area means higher levels of THC!

Place your butter inside a pot on the stove, and then add your decarboxylated cannabis to it as well. If you have some, adding a flavoring agent such as vanilla extract is a great way to kick things up a notch. Be sure to stir this mixture occasionally so that nothing burns or sticks to the bottom.

When using this method, place the temperature of your burner on low-medium heat and let everything simmer together for at least an hour. If possible, let it go for 2-3 hours but keep frequently checking for any burning or sticking at the base of your pan. Make sure that all vapors are being captured by the lid during this process too! These vapors will contain THC and other psychoactive compounds, so preventing them from venturing off is crucial.

Once you’ve let it simmer, remove the pot from its burner and allow it to cool down for a few moments. Then pour all of your cannabutter through a strainer into a bowl beneath, using cheesecloth if available. Save the brown bits that didn’t pass through your strainer. At this point- they can be used in just about anything and even put into capsules if desired!

The last step is simple- transfer your infused butter to an airtight container and store it until you need some more! You can then freeze or refrigerate it if desired. You will want to make sure that any herb-infused butter you prepare is kept away from light, oxygen, and moisture.

Since this cannabutter can be used in any recipe that calls for butter, your options are endless! Just make sure that you’re adjusting the amounts of cannabis infusions to correctly compensate for it. You probably won’t want to go overboard with dosage on an empty stomach because cannabis edibles hit much faster than smoking or vaporizing bud!
